About Us

History: The Scenic Oaks Subdivision is located west of Interstate 10 between San Antonio and Boerne, Texas. Larry Wayne (deceased) and Estella Haese launched the subdivision in 1978. Roads and utilities were developed in the first two of six units and the first home built was their own residence, completed in 1979. Within the first three years more than 10 homes were built. Today, all six units have been developed and there are 320 homes and 25 lots on 441 acres. Residential lots run from .6 acres to 3.8 acres with the average lot measuring about one acre in size.

Today: Scenic Oaks is a gated community in far northwest Bexar County. Our only entrance is a 24/7 manned entry station. Scenic Oaks has a quiet, country feel without being too far away from the city. Our residents include singles, couples, young families, empty nesters, to retirees from all walks of life. Some of us have lived in the San Antonio area our entire lives and others are new transplants to San Antonio and Texas. Our backgrounds include government jobs, private business, education, and the military.

Schools We are in the Northside ISD and our school age children attend Aue Elementary School, Rawlinson Middle School, & Clark High School. Some of our families home school their children while some students attend private schools.

Utilities Our electricity provider is CPS Energy of San Antonio and we get our natural gas from Grey Forest Utilities. Our water is furnished by TOWSC (The Oaks Water Supply Corp.) and supplemented by water from SAWS (San Antonio Water System) in times of need. TOWSC is a resident owned, non-profit utility with water quality that meets or exceeds all state requirements. It is directed by a five-member Board of Directors that are residents of Scenic Oaks and Country Estates.

SOPOA Board of Directors The Scenic Oaks Home Owners Association (SOPOA) has a 9-member board. All board members are residents of Scenic Oaks and are elected by the residents of Scenic Oaks. This board meets monthly and is very actively involved in the day-to-day management of the association. Residents are always welcome to attend and participate in the SOPOA meetings. We also have an Annual Meeting and election of officers every January.

Committees and Volunteers There is an all-volunteer Restrictions committee, Architectural Review committee and Oak Wilt committee that endeavor to guide homeowners in the compliance of the mandated Covenants and Restrictions of the subdivision. Reasonable restrictions are mandated to help maintain the appearance, safety and property values of our homes and our neighborhood. Additionally, there are volunteer committees that oversee Entry Management, Gate Maintenance, the Exit Marquee, Entry Beautification, Road & General Maintenance, the Newsletter, Welcoming new residents and the We Care committee.

Assessment and Billing Information Our assessments are kept very reasonable in large part due to the generous work of resident volunteers that eliminates the need and cost for the services of a management company. A quarterly newsletter is mailed out with our assessment billing. The newsletter helps the SOPOA Board keep in touch with our fellow residents.
